Langting Mansion

Yuzhou Langting Mansion is an exhibition center built in Qingdao, China. The design takes its inspiration from layered mountains, water and clouds. The roof follows the shape of rising and falling peaks and is clad in dark grey metal verge boards. The central part uses antique copper drawn aluminium squares to suggest multiple ranges of hills, set against a glass curtain wall. A mirror water pool connects the building with the site and completes the view. The planning follows the ritual order, the central axis and the courtyards of the ancient city of Jimo.

Bienville

Logistics of this working family required them to be home indoors for long periods, which in addition to work and school became disruptive to their wellness. They began to contemplate, like many families, whether a move to the suburbs, exchanging proximity to city amenities for a larger backyard to increase outdoor access was necessary. Rather than moving far away, they decided to build a new house that would reconsider the limitations of indoor home life on a small urban lot. The organizing principle of the project was to create as much outdoor access from communal areas as possible.

BaseCamp Lyngby

BaseCamp Lyngby is a student housing campus built on a relatively flat site within a green neighborhood in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark. The building rises gradually from ground level to a maximum height of six floors. A serpentine path runs along the full length of the roof, where gardens and small trees form a park-like landscape open to residents and visitors. The curved form wraps around several small courtyards, creating defined and intimate spaces where students can meet, read or relax. The green roof also buffers rainwater and reduces energy use.

Rizhao

Rizhao is an ocean park that combines an aquarium with a plant and bird park. The design was inspired by the golden sea surface at sunrise. A non-linear parametric method shapes soft patterns that recall ripples on the water. The aquarium facade is clad in golden perforated aluminum panels, while the plant and bird park is enclosed by a glass curtain wall. A spherical single-layer grid skylight with a span of 40 meters crowns the aquarium, and natural light reaches more than 60 percent of the water body. Visiting routes and pools are interspersed to create varied exhibition spaces.
